9 killed after several vehicles fall into river as bridge collapses in Vadodara

At least nine people died and several others were rescued after five vehicles fell into river in Gujarat Vadodara as the Gambhira bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand collapsed.

He added that Gambhira bridge was repaired last year only and in view of the traffic on the bridge, the Chief Minister had approved a new bridge worth Rs 212 crores three months ago. The design work and tendering process has been started for the new bridge.

After this incident, the Chief Minister immediately sent the Chief Engineer, bridge design team and expert to the spot and asked for a report.
