The 2026 Golden Globe Awards have concluded, with Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet and The Pitt dominating the night. Hamnet claimed Best Picture, while The Pitt secured the award for Best Drama.
The award for Best Picture was presented by actor Paul Mescal and director Ryan Coogler.
Zhao paused briefly to compose herself before sharing a sentiment she said came from star Paul Mescal: that “the most important thing about being an artist is being able to be vulnerable enough” to, among other things, “give ourselves fully to the world, even the parts of ourselves that we’re ashamed of, that we’re afraid of, that are imperfect”.
She then turned her attention to Sinners director Ryan Coogler, recalling meeting him years ago at Sundance Labs — where, she noted, she apparently taught him how to start a fire. Addressing him directly, she added, “so many of you have become so strong and tender at the same time, and you have shared so much of yourself in your work,” before closing with, “Let’s keep seeing each other, and let’s keep allowing ourselves to be seen.”
