The heavy pre-monsoon rain that lashed UP and Delhi on Thursday and Friday resulted in the crumbling of infrastructure at several places. While in Delhi, the roof outside an airport terminal collapsed and caused one fatality, three labourers died after their temporary huts collapsed into the foundation pit of a building due to heavy rain on Friday. In the Greater Noida area of Uttar Pradesh, three children died after they were trapped under the debris of a collapsed wall of an under-construction building.

The incident occurred in the Khodna Kalan village in Dadri tehsil. News agency ANI cited the police as saying that as many as eight children were buried alive under the debris. While five of them managed to escape, three were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The five injured children are being treated in the hospital.

Gautam Buddha Nagar Additional District Magistrate Atul Kumar said a relief operation was immediately launched after the incident. "We are investigating the incident... Financial help will be provided to the victims," Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI.
