Delhi Fire: Sixteen cars were gutted by a fire that broke out at a civic authority-run parking lot in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area, while five shops turned to ash in Chandni Chowk area of old Delhi on Wednesday, officials said.
A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that a major fire erupted at a parking lot in Madhu Vihar at around 1:17 AM on Wednesday, following which nine fire tenders were pressed into service who brought the blaze under in four hours.
Sixteen cars, belonging to locals in the area who used to park their vehicles in the parking lot on rent basis, were gutted in the inferno, officials said. Earlier, it was reported that 17 cars were damaged but Madhu Vihar SHO Rajesh Sinha later confirmed that 16 vehicles were gutted in the fire.
