Good comeback from Pakistan to restrict the Kiwis under 275 but this is still a pretty competitive total on a two-paced surface. After losing Munro very early, Williamson joined Guptill in the middle and took his time to get going. The duo realized that the surface is on the slowish side and curbed their natural strokeplay, especially the opener. Though Williamson failed to rotate strike on a consistent basis, he didn't lose his patience. Waited for the loose balls and pounced on them to provide
Three consecutive fifty-plus stands and half centuries from Williamson and Taylor helped New Zealand's cause. It was some busy cricket from the No. 4 to keep moving things along at a good pace. After his fall, there was a collapse which saw the hosts losing 6 for 30 but some lusty blows from Boult at the fag end of the innings meant that the Black Caps finished on a high. The game is hanging in the balance but the hosts have a slight advantage considering Pakistan's brittle batting in the series
