Days after Shatrughan Sinha joined the Congress, his wife Poonam Sinha joined the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday, 16 April, in the presence of Dimple Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav’s wife.
According to a source cited by IANS a few days earlier, Poonam Sinha would be fielded against Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh from the Lucknow parliamentary constituency.
The Congress had decided not to field a candidate from Lucknow and support the candidature of Sinha from the Uttar Pradesh capital, according to the sources.
