The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un refuted Seoul’s allegations on Sunday that Pyongyang had launched dozens of artillery rounds close to their border the previous day.

One day after both sides conducted live-fire drills in the same location close to their disputed maritime boundary, Seoul’s military said on Saturday that North Korean soldiers had launched around 60 artillery rounds near Yeonpyeong Island.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South, the rounds fell in a buffer established under a 2018 agreement to lessen tensions. The North’s spy satellite launch in November caused that agreement to collapse.
