Azam, son, two others acquitted in extortion and murder bid case

SP leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah, currently serving jail sentences in another case, were acquitted by the MP/MLA court in Rampur in a criminal case filed by a neighbor in 2019. The case, filed by Md Ahmad, accused Azam, Abdullah, and two locals, Shareef Ahmad and Bilal Khan. The police had filed a chargesheet, and all accused were previously granted bail. The judgment, delivered on October 18, resulted in the acquittal of all four individuals. Azam and Abdullah were brought to court under heavy police security for the proceedings.

BAREILLY: The MP/MLA court in Rampur on Saturday acquitted SP leader Azam Khan, son Abdullah and two others in a criminal case filed by his neighbour in 2019. Azam is lodged in Sitapur jail while his son is in Hardoi jail after they were convicted in a fake date of birth certificate case. The judgment in the case was delivered on October 18.
Government counsel Amit Saxena told TOI, "The case was filed against Azam, Abdullah and locals Shareef Ahmad and Bilal Khan on complaint of one Md Ahmad.
Police had filed a chargesheet against the four. All accused were granted bail earlier. In all, seven witnesses were presented by the additional DGC Seema Rana. Azam and Abdullah were produced in the court under heavy police security where ADJ Vijay Kumar (special judge EC Act and MP/MLA) acquitted the four accused on Saturday."
