Wipro has made it mandatory for employees to work from the office at least three days a week from November 15. The move follows a similar directive from rivals Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys, which too have asked employees to return to office. The number of days that the three companies have made compulsory, however, differs.
The email has been sent by Wipro's chief human resources officer Saurabh Govil.

What the email says
"Starting November 15, all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week. This change aims to enhance teamwork, facilitate face-to-face interactions, and strengthen Wipro's culture," reads the email.
“We strongly believe that in-person interactions are critical to the professional development of our talent as well as to our success in driving ongoing innovation for clients," the email added. "As a global organization, we will continue customizing in-country adoption based on local legislation and agreements," the email further said.
It said that in some European countries, it may be necessary to consult with employee representation groups.

Employees who do not return may face action
Wipro has also reportedly warned employees that if they do not return to office, they may face action starting January 7, 2024. The action may include a loss of trust and credibility with managers, reduced performance and work quality and disciplinary.
The company plans customise the hybrid work policy based on country, local legislation and agreements.
TCS, Infosys work from office policy
Last month TCS sent an email to employees asking them to start working from office 5 days a week. Infosys too has reportedly sent a similar email to employees asking them to work from office at least 10 days a month. There have been reports that Capgemini and LTIMindtree too have started asking employees to work from office on all or at least 50% of the working days in a week.
