The NIA crackdown is part of the investigation into newly floated offshoots of proscribed Pakistan-backed terror outfits in an alleged bid to destabilise peace and communal harmony in Kashmir

In a massive crackdown in the Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case, the NIA on Monday raided nine locations, including Srinagar, in the union territory. The raids are part of the investigation into newly floated offshoots of proscribed Pakistan-backed terror outfits in an alleged bid to destabilise Kashmir.

“In a massive crackdown in the Jammu and Kashmir terror conspiracy case involving Pakistan-backed banned terrorist organisations and their offshoots, the NIA raided nine locations across Kashmir,” said an NIA spokesperson, as per a report published by news agency PTI.

The NIA spokesperson said digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data and documents were seized during the raids. The locations were residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers linked to the offshoots and affiliates of the banned terrorist outfits, the anti-terror agency said. It also extensively searched the premises of sympathisers and organisation cadres.

The NIA is probing outfits like The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Ghazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF among others. Sources said these outfits are affiliated to Pakistan-backed organisations like Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al-Badr, Al-Qaeda – all banned by the central government.

The sources further said cadres and workers whose premises were raided are under the scanner for their involvement in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotics and arms/ammunitions. They were engaged in activities related to terror, violence and subversion in Jammu and Kashmir, as per the NIA probe.

The case was registered on June 21, 2022. Backed by their Pakistan-based masters and mentors, these terror outfits have been conspiring to carry out terror acts aimed at disturbing the peace and communal harmony in J-K by radicalising local youths and mobilising overground workers, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson further said the terror conspiracy is with regard to banned outfits, in both the physical and cyber space, carrying out terror attacks with sticky bombs, IEDs and small arms.
