Karnataka's teenage cricketer Prakhar Chaturvedi came up with a Brian Lara-esque feat in the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy against Mumbai at the KSCA Navule Stadium in Shimoga. Prakhar Chaturvedi became the first cricketer to hit 400 or above in the final of the prestigious U-19 domestic four-day tournament.

Prakhar Chaturvedi hit 46 fours and 3 sixes in a knock that helped Karnataka seal the first-innings lead and eventually the title. Prakhar was unbeaten on 404 off 638 balls as the young opener faced more than 100 overs all by himself, making the Mumbai bowlers toil hard over the last 2 days.

Prakhar Chaturvedi scored 24 runs more than Mumbai's team total of 380. Karnataka posted a mammoth total of 890 for 8 in 223 overs.

Harishil Dharmani hit 169 while Karthikeya KP hit 72, providing solid support to Prakhar who carried his bat in a record-breaking innings in the Cooch Behar Trophy final.

Rahul Dravid's son Samit Dravid also featured in the final for Karnataka. The son of the head coach of the senior men's team managed 22 runs from 46 balls in the final.

For Mumbai, Prem Devkar picked up 3 wickets but he was made to work hard as he bowled 30 overs and conceded 136 runs. Each of the 6 Mumbai bowlers bowled at least 20 overs with Akash Paawar and Mannan Bhatt bowling 45 and 47 overs, respectively.

Earlier, Ayush Mhatre's 145 helped Mumbai post 380 in the first innings after Karnataka won the toss and opted to field.

Samit Dravid picked up 2 wickets in his 19-over quota while Hardik Raj topped the wickets tally for Karnataka with a 4-wicket haul.

The Cooch Behar Trophy, named after the Maharaja of Cooch Behar, has been a cornerstone of Indian domestic cricket since its inception in the 1945-46 season. Initially a school competition until 1986-87, it transitioned to an under-19 format in the following season.
