Punjabi actor and activist Deep Sidhu lost his life in a road accident near Delhi on Tuesday (February 15) night. His friend, Reena Rai, who was also in the same car with him survived. According to the police, after the accident, the airbag on Reena's side opened immediately, which saved her life.
Reena Rai is a Punjabi actress and has participated in many beauty pageants. In 2014, Reena won the title of Miss South Asia. She worked opposite Deep Sidhu's Punjabi film Rang Punjab in 2018, which got her instant recognition. Deep and Reena's pair was considered to be a hit jodi. They will soon be seen in an upcoming Punjabi film titled Desi.

Deep Sidhu and Reena Rai had been together for a couple of years. In a social media post dedicated to her, Deep wrote, “You stood by when the whole world was against, protected me, held my respect, gave me strength, prayed for my cause and freedom but what truly has touched my heart and soul when you paused your life for me, you being there means a lot for me, your love and support is beyond any description, you are beyond my words and i truly feel blessed to have soul like you in my life, I just wanna say I love you @thisisreenarai (sic).”

Reena Rai flew down to India from the US to celebrate Valentine's Day with Deep Sidhu. They were staying at the Oberoi Hotel in Gurugram, Haryana.
Deep Sidhu had hit the national headlines during farmers’ protests against the three farm reforms laws brought in in 2020. In January 2021, Deep Sidhu was accused of instigating violence at the Red Fort in Delhi. A group of agitators had hoisted a religious flag atop the Red Fort on Republic Day. Deep Sidhu was later arrested in connection with the January 26 violence.
