Jagdeep Dhankhar, Governor of West Bengal, was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Monday evening after he tested positive for malaria on Sunday.

According to a report in The Times of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar was in Darjeeling from October 12 onwards as part of a two-week visit to north Bengal. He fell ill while there and developed a fever. He was advised to take a blood test.

On Friday, Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived in Delhi for treatment, as per sources. He was staying at Bangla Bhavan, where doctors were keeping watch. He has now been shifted to the hospital.

WHO IS JAGDEEP DHANKHAR?

Jagdeep Dhankhar, 70, has been serving as the Governor of West Bengal since July 30, 2019. A lawyer by profession, he has practiced in the Supreme Court. He is also a former Member of Parliament and Union minister.
