After roping in Goa’s former Congress chief minister Luizinho Faleiro, the Trinamool Congress leadership is in talks with another Congress veteran, former Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma.

According to sources, members of Prashant Kishor’s team are in talks with Mukul Sangma on behalf of the TMC. However, Sangma remains non-committal about the TMC offer.

Of late, differences have cropped up between the former chief minister and the Congress high command, fuelling speculation about his exit from the party.

Sources said Sangma was unhappy with the appointment of Congress MP Vincent Pala as the Meghalaya Congress chief.

Addressing the media in the capital Shillong last week, Mukul Sangma, who is currently the leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Assembly, said that he would press for “course correction” within the party.

“I will press for course correction at an appropriate level within the four walls of our party, that is what I will do,” Sangma had said.

Luizinho Faleiro and nine other Goa leaders joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on September 29 in Kolkata in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
