Congress leader Sachin Pilot tests positive for Covid-19

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister and sitting MLA from Tonk, Sachin Pilot tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. In a tweet, Sachin Pilot asked those who came in contact with him over the past few days to get tested.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot tests positive for Covid-19

Congress leader Sachin Pilot took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Thursday to announce that he has tested positive for Covid-19. The MLA from Tonk and Rajasthan's former deputy chief minister was part of the Congress' election campaign in Bihar and other parts of the country where Assembly seats went to bypolls earlier this month.

"I have tested positive for Covid-19. Anyone who may have come in contact with me over the last few day, please get yourselves tested. Am taking appropriate doctoral advice. Hope to recover soon," Sachin Pilot said in a tweet.

Wishing Pilot a speedy recovery, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in a tweet, "Wish you a speedy recovery @SachinPilot ji. May you get well soon.”

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi also wrote on Twitter, "My best wishes for the speedy recovery of Sachin Pilot from Covid-19."

Govind Singh Dotasra, who replaced Sachin Pilot as chief of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) earlier this year, said in a tweet, "Wish you a Speedy Recovery Pilot Ji. Get Well Soon."

"Received information about Rajasthan's former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot's illness. I pray to God for your speedy recovery. @SachinPilot," BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a tweet on Thursday.

Several ministers and legislators in Rajasthan have tested positive for coronavirus in recent days. These include Rajasthan ministers Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Udailal Anjana, Congress leader and former MP Badri Ram Jakhar and BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf.

BJP MLA Narpat Singh Rajvi and BJP MLA and party's state general secretary Madan Dilawar also tested positive only recently. Apart from them, Babulal Nagar, who fought the state Assembly elections as an Independent, has also tested positive. Other politicians who tested positive for Covid-19 recently include Congress MLAs Ramlal Jat and Rafeek Khan and BJP MLAs Rajendra Rathore, Ashok Lahoti and Arjun Lal Jeengar.

Earlier, former ministers Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Chand Meena too had tested positive for coronavirus. Former Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal had also tested positive for the infection. Some other politicians who have tested positive include Arjun Lal Jeenagar, the BJP MLA from Kapasan, BJP MLA from Siwana Hameer Singh Bhayal and Chandrabhan Singh Aakya, the BJP MLA from Chittorgarh.

On Thursday, Rajasthan reported 2,176 new cases of Covid-19, including 475 from the capital city Jaipur. The state's tally of confirmed cases now stands at 2,19,327. The infection has claimed 2,032 lives in the state, including 13 in the last 24 hours.

There are now 17,352 active cases of Covid-19 in Rajasthan.
