Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah on Monday extended his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and decided to spend the night with the CRPF to listen to their grievances and understand the challenges they are facing, he said.

''People sleep peacefully because you are here at the border," Amit Shah said in an address to security personnel at the CRPF camp in Pulwama. "I want to spend one night with you people and understand your difficulties. I want to know how they feel at the last border point."

While noting that the law and order situation in the Union Territory has "improved drastically", Shah emphasised that the Modi government has a zero-tolerance policy towards terror.

He referred to the civilian killings in recent weeks and the number of security personnel who are martyred and said, "We should not be satisfied till total peace is achieved. The perpetrators behind this will be brought to justice.”

ON ABROGATION OF ARTICLE 370

Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to the CRPF and other security forces for ensuring that there was no bloodshed after Article 370 was revoked in August 2019.

"The government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took the historic decision to end Article 370 to safeguard the rights and interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” said Amit Shah.

The home minister called on the people of the Valley not to fall prey to the misleading claims and deception being peddled by certain groups for the sake of their own political and personal agendas.

“Some with vested interests spread lies and incite Kashmiris in the name of abrogation of Article 370. They tried to instil insecurity amongst Kashmiris by creating fear of losing their land. But not a single Kashmiri has lost his or her land after abrogation of Article 370,” said Shah, adding that it was time to show the mirror of truth to these detractors.

ON DEVELOPMENT IN J&K

Recalling the Pulwama attack in which 40 jawans lost their lives, Shah said the deadly terror strike had become synonymous with the district and the people the world over knew about it. But now, Pulwama will be known for the Rs 2000-crore AIIMS medical college which would be built here soon, he asserted.

The home minister declared that an era of development had begun for Jammu and Kashmir.

''There are many changes that are happening on the development front, in infrastructure, industrial and education sectors because the Army and CRPF are ensuring that all sinister designs are defeated,'' Shah said.
