Heavy rains on Tuesday morning led to extensive waterlogging on several road stretches across Delhi, including near Pragati Maidan in central and Dhaula Kuan in the southern part of the city.

Several parts of Delhi-NCR received heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, resulting in waterlogging on several road stretches, including Pragati Maidan in central and Dhaula Kuan in the southern part of the city.

The waterlogging also created traffic snarls in different locations of the city. Traffic moved at a slow pace at ITO, underneath Moti Bagh metro station, Dhaula Kuan underpass, near Pragati Maidan, Mathura Road, Vikas Marg, Ring Road near IP Flyover, Rohtak Road among others.

Some of the stretches and areas where waterlogging was reported included Dhaula Kuan, Mathura Road, Moti Bagh, Vikas Marg, Ring Road, Rohtak Road, Sangam Vihar, Kirari and near Pragati Maidan among others.

The minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory was 25 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

The IMD said 100 mm of rainfall was recorded in the past last 24 hours. The relative humidity recorded at 8.30 am in the city was 100 percent on Tuesday.

Gurugram residents woke up to waterlogged roads on Tuesday morning.

IMD predicts more downpour

Heavy rainfall activity is expected in parts of North and East India during the next three-four days, the IMD said on Monday. Widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh till July 29 and its intensity will reduce thereafter.

The weatherman has predicted a generally cloudy sky in Delhi with moderate rain and the possibility of thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds carrying a speed of 30-40 kmph later in the day.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
