Honda Cars India Limited has launched the Elevate SUV in India. Prices for the Elevate start at Rs 11 lakh (Ex-showroom). The new Honda Elevate is the Japanese automakers attempt at reaping the benefits of the highly successful and highly profitable midsize SUV segment, which has till now been dominated by the Korean siblings - Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. However Maruti Suzuki's Grand Vitara has since showed that the market is infact open to more models, especially from long-established brands. Other rivals in the segment include the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder as well as the new Citroen C3 Aircross. Measuring 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width, 1,650mm in height and with a wheelbase of 2,650mm, the Elevate is at par or even better compared to its rivals in terms of size.

Powering the Honda Elevate is a familiar 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which has been on duty in the Honda City. This produces 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. There are two transmission options - a 6-speed manual or a CVT. Unlike the City, the Elevate is not expected to be offered with the hybrid powertrain.

The Honda Elevate debuts a new design philosophy for Honda with a butch design dominated by bold lines and muscular proportions. The front features a large black grille, flanked by LED headlamps. There is a Honda chrome strip on the nose, which adds a lot of character to the SUV. The taillamps are wraparound style LED units. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is contemporary, and features a 10.25-inch IPS HD touch display and a 7-inch full colour instrument display. Other features include automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charger, brown leatherette upholstery and a sunroof. Honda has also added a host of ADAS features which come under the Honda Sensing package. This includes lanewatch camera, lane keep assist, smart cruise control, collision avoidance braking, and more features.
