A huge controversy erupted during Pakistan’s warmup game in their tour of Australia when an Australian journalist posted a TV grab from the Fox Cricket broadcast where the scoreboard showed the racist term ‘Paki’ as a reference to Pakistan.

It happened during Pakistan’s warmup game vs the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday. The blunder led to Cricket Australia being left red-faced and they produced an apology which was also quoted by journalist Daany Saeed, who had pointed out the initial error.

“The graphic was an automatic feed from a data provider which had not been used previously for a Pakistan game. This was obviously regrettable, and the error we corrected manually as soon as it came to light,” Saeed wrote on X, saying that it was a clarification from CA.

Earlier, Saeed had tweeted, “The choice to run with “PAKI” on the Fox ticker over the traditional “PAK” is…quite a choice,” along with a screengrab of the blunder.

Jordan Buckingham was the pick of Australian Prime Minister’s XI with figures of 5/80 as he dismissed Imam-ul-Haq (9), Babar Azam (40), Sarfaraz Ahmed (41), Aamer Jamal (5) and Mir Hamza (8).
