Having garnered enough appreciations for her bold performance in Lipstick Under My Burkha, actor Aahana Kumra‘s recent comment against filmmaker Prakash Jha sent the industry and fans in a shock. Alledging that Jha made her uncomfortable while filming an intimate scene with co-star Vikrant Massey in the film, directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, Aahana’s statement created an instant buzz until she finally cleared the air recently.

In an interview with IANS, Aahana was quoted saying, “My director Alankrita Shrivastava made sure that all the intimate scenes were shot in a closed set with few people around. Prakash Jha happened to drop by while I was shooting with my co-star Vikrant Massey. Since I had never shot an intimate scene before that, it was difficult to get in the right zone.”

Elaborating her point further, she said, “Since he is also a director, he had a suggestion regarding the scene, but I wanted to hear it from my director, Alankrita. He was on the set for a while, and after he left, we continued to shoot and also implemented his suggestion.” Though the actress was not comfortable sharing the actual remark that was made, Aahana felt that her initial comment was “blown out of proportion”.

Earlier, narrating the incident, Aahana had said, “I remember once Mr Jha walked in and there was a scene, where I am filming the sex that is happening. Then Mr Jha walked in on the set and he passed a remark and it was so uncomfortable to hear that from. I just went to Alankrita and said ‘he is not my director why he is on the set and why I have to hear a remark from him, with all due respect he is a producer.”

Asserting her point one last time, Aahana said, “Mr. Jha has been extremely respectful of all of us actors at every time that we have met him… It’s not right to drag his name unnecessarily. The remark was not on me. It was regarding the scene purely.”

Lipstick Under My Burkha was released to good reviews and its share of applause from the audience after facing a lot of resistance from the Censor Board. The film was presented by Ekta Kapoor‘s Balaji Motion Productions and also featured Konkona Sen, Ratna Pathak Shah and Plabita Borthakur.
