With increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the total number of containment zones in the national capital has touched the 1500 mark.
The national capital has been witnessing a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. On March 23, the daily tally crossed the 1,000 mark for the first time in 2021.
With increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the total number of containment zones in the national capital has touched the 1500 mark. Currently, Delhi has a total of 1,506 containment zones.
Out of these, 800 fresh containment zones were added in the last six days while 200 of these were added in the last two days i.e, Friday and Saturday (March 27 and 28), said the Health Department.
The districts with the maximum containment zones are south (416), north (189) and west (181).
The positivity rate, since the first week of March, has been the highest in the northwest, the southeast and south districts, while east, central and northeast districts have not seen a significant rise. The northwest district recorded the highest - 3 per cent up from 0.69 per cent, while the southeast district was at 2.41 per cent, up from 0.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, owing to the surge in cases, the Delhi government on Saturday (March 27) issued new guidelines to curb the spread of coronavirus in the national capital.
“The Covid-19 situation has been reviewed and it has been decided that status quo should be maintained in NCT of Delhi with regard to permissible/prohibited activities as per aforesaid DDMA orders. However, the ceiling of persons in marriage, banquet halls, other gatherings/congregations and in funeral/last rites in NCT of Delhi needs to be imposed,” the Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s order released on Saturday said.
”ln closed spaces, a maximum of 50 percent of the hall capacity will be allowed, with a ceiling of 100 persons. In open spaces, numbers will be allowed keeping the size of the ground/ space in view with a ceiling of 200 persons subject to strict observance of wearing of face masks, maintaining social distancing, provision for thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitizer," the order added.
Delhi recorded over 1,800 coronavirus cases on Sunday (March 28), the highest in since December 13, while the positivity rate rose to 2.35 per cent, the Health Department said.
With nine fatalities, the death toll now stands at 11,006, it said. The 1,881 new infections pushed the tally to 6,57,715, while over 6.39 lakh patients have recovered from the virus.
