Srinagar: A terrorist has been gunned down by the security forces in an ongoing encounter in Tral of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The deceased belonged to terror outfit Jaish e Mohammad (JeM).

Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site. The gunfight has also left a policeman injured.

Police sources said the gun battle took place in Darganai Gund village of Tral area during a cordon and search operation.

The fighting began when the militants opened fire at the security forces including the Rashtriya Rifles, the special operations group (SOG) of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), a police officer said.

Authorities suspended mobile Internet services in the area to prevent the spread of rumours.

Earlier in the day, Pakistani troops fired at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K's Rajouri district, injuring a BSF jawan.
