Follow the highlights from Day 1:

*West Indies 1st innings 295/7 (95): Roston Chase 98* (174) / Kuldeep Yadav 3/74.

# Stumps!!

# Wicket! Umesh Yadav has ensured a much-needed breakthrough for team India, with his third wicket so far in the clash, accounting for opposing skipper Jason Holder who had brought his side back to the game with a composed 52 when it mattered it most. A 100 run partnership between Roston Chase and Holder threatened to put the Indian batting lineup under pressure with Yadav's aggressive bowling performances forcing Holder to edge the ball down to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant in a soft dismissal. West Indies 286/7 after 90 overs.

# Half-Century!! Jason Holder brings up his half-century in 86 balls with a quality knock.

# An unbeaten 73 run partnership off 129 balls between Roston Chase and Jason Holder has proved to be invaluable for the West Indies who seemed all set to crumble for a score below 200 at one stage. Chase has lent a mature edge to the innings with a 125 ball 72 comprising of 6 boundaries and a six with a 72 ball 41 by the skipper ensuring a solid platform for the batting side. West Indies 255/6 after 81 overs.

# Play resumes!

# Drinks-break!!

# Roston Chase is leading the charge for West Indies with a steady knock of 62 runs in 96 deliveries with captain Jason Holder lending some valuable support. At the same time, the batting side have been guilty of gifting the momentum when it matters the most which they should certainly be wary about. West Indies 220/6 after 71 overs.

# Play resumes!

# Tea-break!!

# Skipper Jason Holder is the new man on the crease for the West Indies and will be looking to ensure some stability with the willow.

# Wicket! Umesh Yadav has struck with the ball, ensuring a vital breakthrough for his side after Dowrich and Chase threatened to take the game away from the hosts with an effective partnership. Dowrich failed to safely negotiate an inch-perfect delivery by Yadav who was brought on by skipper Virat Kohli at a crucial position. Kohli opted to review the umpire's decision who initially ruled him not out with the decision paying off in a splendid fashion. West Indies 182/6 after 60 overs

 # Shane Dowrich and Roston Chase have attempted a comeback of sorts by ensuring risk-free gameplay against the Indian bowlers especially Kuldeep Yadav who has been in great form so far in the test series. The visitors will be looking to survive at any costs in order to nurse any hopes of a comeback. West Indies 151/5 after 49 overs.

# Wicket! Sunil Ambris perishes yet again after attempting to smash chinaman Kuldeep Yadav into the stands in a vain attempt. Ravindra Jadeja rarely drops any catches and this was no exception with Ambris forced to trudge back slowly to the pavilion. West Indies 113/5 after 39 overs.

# Wicket! Kuldeep Yadav has proved to be exceedingly effective against the West Indies with batsman Shimron Hetmyer dismissed for a paltry score of 12 runs in 34 deliveries. The batsman was guilty of terrible misjudgement with his side in desperate need of a partnership. West Indies 92/4 after 34.1 overs.

# Play resumes!

# While the cricketing action was certainly exciting enough, there was another interesting incident in store for the fans. A man breached the security cordon before sprinting towards Virat Kohli, attempting to give him a hug which left him bemused.

# Lunch-break!!

# Wicket! Umesh Yadav dismisses Shai Hope Lbw after an excellent bowling display for the hosts in the 1st session. The West Indies batsman decided to review the decision without much success with the ball rapping him on the front pad! West Indies have lost both their reviews which might prove costly later on. Hope walks back to the pavilion for a 68 ball 36 in a knock consisting of 5 boundaries. West Indies 86/3 after 31.3 overs.

# Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer are looking increasingly uncomfortable against the Indian spinners with pace bowler Umesh Yadav ensuring a disciplined spell at the same time. The batsmen are struggling to score runs at this stage with a wicket increasingly likely at this stage. West Indies 80/2 after 30 overs.

# Wicket! Kraigg Braithwaite has been dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav after being trapped leg before wicket. The opener was struggling to get the runs on board against a disciplined bowling attack with a soft dismissal testimony to his lack of confidence against spin. Braithwaite attempted to push his case by opting for a review which has failed to deliver any results with the batting side 2 wickets down. He departs after scoring 14 runs in 68 deliveries. West Indies 52/2 after 23 overs.

Shai Hope and Kraigg Braithwaite are looking to ensure a steady partnership for the visitors following the early wicket of Kieran Powell, who was looking good during his short stint in the middle. Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav will eye some inroads at this stage. West Indies 44/1 after 17 overs!

Wicket! Kieron Powell attempts to clear Ashwin over the 30 yards circle but ends up handing a catch to Ravindra Jadeja, who gleefully snaps it up. Soft dismissal this. Powell departs for a score of 22 runs off 30 balls in a knock consisting of 4 boundaries. West Indies 32/1.

# West Indian openers Kraigg Braithwaite and Kieran Powell have ensured a steady start for the visitors early on, combining aggression with comparatively risk-free gameplay. Debutant Shardul Thakur has walked off the field following a reported ankle injury which will be a cause of concern for skipper Virat Kohli with only 2 pace bowlers in the matchday lineup. West Indies 26/0 in 7 overs

# Kraigg Braithwaite and Kieran Powell open the innings for West Indies with Umesh Yadav all set to kick off proceedings with the ball.

# Fast bowler Shardul Thakur is the 5th debutant for team India this year and will be looking to make an impact early on.

#Skipper Jason Holder makes a comeback to the side as a replacement for Keemo Paul while spinner Jomel Warrican makes an appearance in place of Sherman Lewis. Kemar Roach misses out for the visitors.

#The Indian lineup has only one change with Shami Ahmed making way for Shardul Thakur.
