As the state gears up for the announcement of the budget, Assam will also become the second state to present an e-budget with tablets available for legislators to interact with. The entire budget session will also be streamed live on Twitter and Facebook, which will be a first for any state in the country.
Himanta Biswa Sarma , the Finance Minister of the state, speaking to PTI stated that the legislators will be able to access the tablet provided to them during the discussions and proceedings and will also be able to cut motion on the Budget inside the House.
“The government will present the first e-Budget in the Assembly and each legislator will be provided with a tablet (computer) with details of the Budget,” said Sarma.

According to the report, the Assam finance department had called for suggestions from the public regarding Budget provisions and more than a thousand people responded with a number of suggestions. The best of these were then sorted for incorporating them in this year’s Budget.
The State budget will also be available within the Google search engine for citizens, to have access to it whenever required.
Reporters and media personnel covering the session will also be provided USB flash drives with details of the budget, alongside a printed copy.
