Picking up the threads from where it left five months ago, National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday questioned four family members of the Hizbul Mujhadeen Supreme Commander and the US declared special designated global terrorist Syed Salahuddin in the terror funding case of 2011.

Sources said six people including four family members and sons of Salahuddin were questioned by NIA relating to the bank accounts and Hawala money transfers.

Sources said all the four were questioned by NIA sleuths at Srinagar. NIA intends to question them in connection with the funds sent through an international wire transfer company.

NIA has already filed two charge sheets against six accused in the case in 2011. Out of these six charge sheeted accused, four including Ghulam Mohommad Bhat, close associate of SAS Geelani, are in judicial custody and facing the trial in the Special Court NIA in New Delhi.

Two others Mohammed Maqbool Pandit and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat are still absconding. Red notice has already been issued against both the absconding accused persons”, said the spokesman.

On October 24 last year, NIA had arrested 42-year-old Syed Shahid Yousuf in the terror funding case of 2011. Syed Shahid Yousuf was arrested allegedly for receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Saudi Arabia-based Aijaz Ahmad Bhat alias Aijaz Maqbool Bhat, a member of Hizbul Mujahideen, to finance terror operations.

NIA had said Syed Shahid Yousuf is one of the several Indian contacts of Aijaz Ahmad Bhat who have been in telephonic contact with him to receive the money transfer codes.
