Tremors were felt in several parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR and Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday evening as an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 rocked the Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan region.
According to preliminary report of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the earthquake was in Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Pakistan region.
The earthquake struck at 10:41 UTC (16:11 IST).
The tremors were also felt in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
"The intensity of the earthquake, which had its epicentre in Afghanistan-Kazakhstan border, measured 6.2 on the Richter Scale," he said.
There were no reports of loss of life or damage to property, government officials said.
Earlier today, an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Pakistan. The earthquake struck at a depth of 40.9 km with the epicentre 29km North-North-West of Bannu in Pakistan, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
