Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah exuded confidence that the people of India would again choose Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 Lok Sabha elections as they know how his government has worked for all sections of the society.

Speaking at Zee Media's India ka DNA Conclave 2019, Shah said, "When it is time for the people to decide, people of India will back PM Modi. We have worked well with our allies and have given a good administration."

He said that India has gotten much respect outside the country due to PM Modi.

"When PM Modi gets respect outside, its respect for the people of India. When India sends satellites in the space and when India conducts a surgical strike in Pakistan, the people of India feel proud," the BJP chief said.

"The Modi government has restored the confidence of Indian people in governance and restored India to its pride of place in the nations of the world, he added.

He said that even the opposition has not been able to level any corruption allegation against the NDA government.

Shah said that as the BJP president, it becomes easy for him as the head of the party if it has to face the elections with someone like PM Modi's face.

Listing out schemes like Mudra Yojna, Ujjwala Yojana, electrification of villages, one-rank-one-pension, Shah said, "The Modi government has worked for the people of this country, we have touched the lives of crores of people."

On the question of 'achhe din', Shah said that people who have benefitted from the Modi government's schemes believe that 'achhe din' have come.

On Rahul Gandhi being the opposition face for the PM in 2019, Shah said that he will become the Prime Minister if the Congress gets the numbers.

The BJP leader took a potshot on Rahul Gandhi and listed out the number of state elections that the Congress has lost under him.

He said that all parties that are coming together against the BJP contested the even 2014 election against the saffron party.

Taking a dig at the proposed opposition alliance, Shah asked, "If the legal age for marriage is 21, can you put 21 one-year-olds together and get them married?"

He said that while Prime Minister talks about fighting poverty and corruption, opposition parties are only talking about fighting Modi. "They say 'Modi hatao' we say 'garibi hatao', they say 'Modi hatao' we say 'corruption hatao'."
