1. Man Shot Dead While Visiting Daughter’s Grave

A man was shot dead allegedly by three unidentified men at a graveyard in north-east Delhi's Welcome on Friday, the police said.

At 3:30 pm, Mehfuz, a resident of Welcome, was offering prayers at his daughter’s grave when the incident took place. Three unidentified persons came there and a scuffle broke out between the victim and them. The accused shot him multiple times, said DCP (North-East) Atul Kumar Thakur said. Mehfuz was declared brought dead at a hospital, he said, adding that the victim sustained eight bullet injuries. The case is being probed, they said. Mehfuz had two criminal cases registered against him and was out on bail, they added.

2. Man Beaten to Death by Neighbour; Accused Held

A 23-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbour after a fight broke out between them, the police said on Friday.

The accused hit Gautam Kumar’s parked two-wheeler with his mini-truck following which the duo got into a fight, they said.

On Thursday, at 8 pm, one Indrajeet Mishra, a security guard, had come to meet his brother-in-law — Gautam — in Rana Park, when the incident happened, the police said.

3. Delhi: One Dead as School Bus Hits NDMC Gardeners on Cycle

An NDMC gardener died and his colleague sustained serious injuries after the bicycle on which they were travelling was hit by a private bus carrying school children near Khan Market Friday. While 59-year-old Rajender Prasad was killed on the spot because of head injuries, 46-year-old Rajender Singh sustained fractures in his legs, injuries to his spine, neck and head, officials from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital said. The victims were employed as gardeners and were posted with the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) enquiry office.

4. Two Arrested in Killing of Man in Delhi's Alipur

Two men suspected to be members of the Deepak Tomar gang were arrested for allegedly killing a person in outer Delhi's Alipur area in December last year, police said Friday.

The accused were identified as Pradeep (25), a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana and Pintu alias Sumit (24), a resident of Rohtak district in Haryana, they added.

5. Delhi: Four Held in Health Ministry Funds Diversion Case

Acting on the FIR registered by the Union Health Ministry against unidentified persons for allegedly siphoning funds worth over Rs 2.5 crore by making payments to unknown persons, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested four people from Assam, police said.

The Indian Express had reported the case on December 28. The ministry had informed the EOW that they uncovered the alleged fraud during a financial audit, following which a case under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant) was registered.

6. Noida: 3 Nabbed for Attack on Bizman

Three men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the attack on a Delhi-based businessman here after a failed Rs 1.5 crore robbery attempt, police said Friday.

The three, who work in a company linked to the businessman in Sector 57 here, was identified after the police scanned footage of at least 18 CCTV cameras and found a modus operandi "rarely" used in Noida, a senior official said.

7. Four Criminals Involved in Murder Case Held in Sitamarhi

A police team on Friday seized an AK-56 rifle and arrested four persons who were allegedly behind the killing of a construction firm worker from different places of Bihar's Sitamarhi district.

Vinod Rai, who worked with a construction company, was shot dead on January 7, by the criminals using the AK-56 weapon.

8. Police Constable Shot Dead in Meerut, Say Cops

A 26-year-old constable was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Maujipura village in Meerut Friday morning, Senior Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar said. Locals spotted the body at around 8 am and informed the police, which contacted the deceased Ankur Chaudhary’s family in Manglore village in Shamli under Jhinjhiana police station.
