Sports-lovers who were downcast with the end of cricket World Cup have something new to look forward to. The high-profile Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), with the city hosting the home-leg of matches from July 20 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium here, is sure to lift their spirits.

The beginning of the kabaddi season was marked by the grand unveiling of 25-foot installation in Hussainsagar Lake in Hyderabad on Thursday evening.

The Vivo PKL, organised by Mashal Sports Pvt Ltd with Star Sports being the official broadcaster, is sure to treat the fans to a real feast of high-quality contests in a holiday ambience inside the indoor stadium.

This season, fans here can pitch for costliest player in the PKL season-7 ‘Bahubali’ Siddharth Desai, who was bought by the city-based franchisee, Telugu Titans, for a staggering ₹1.45 crore. The other players who might be of great interest to the local fans could be C. Arun, Siva Ganesh Reddy and Palle Mallikarjun.

Interestingly, Vivo PKL branded buses would provide free rides to fans from five routes including Lingampally, Mehdipatnam, Secunderabad, KPBH and Uppal to Gachibolwi to enjoy the opening match featuring the local favourites – Telugu Titans and U Mumba.

All these buses would depart from one common depot – from University of Hyderabad (UoH) – and would be available for fans till July 26 when the Hyderabad-leg concludes.

All the matches would be telecast live on Star Sports and Hotstar.
