A plogging run was organised by the students of Central schools in the military establishments in Belagavi on Wednesday.

Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya 2 gathered at the school ground in the military cantonment area along with their parents. They walked all along the streets in the military camp area and collected garbage. Senior students walked five kilometres, while the younger ones walked around two kilometres.

They wore gloves and masks and collected bags full of garbage. Plastic items were also collected. They held placards and raised slogans in favour of cleanliness.

A mass lunch was organised for the students later. Principal Arun Kumar Singh and others participated.

Students and teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Air Force Station in Sambra walked in and around Sambra village on the outskirts of the city. They collected garbage and raised slogans for Swachch Bharat. Principal Vijay Rathnam and others participated.

A cleanliness drive was organised at the Rashtriya Military School. Students assembled at the Gandhi Memorial on the campus to pay obeisance to the Father of the Nation.

The Gandhi bust was garlanded by the principal, staff and the cadets.

Two cadets, Prince of Class VIII and Ayush of Class IX, spoke on the life and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi.

Seema Awasthi spoke about truth and non-violence and the power of prayer.

Parameswaran Soonu, spoke about Gandhi’s insistence on cleanliness and sanitation.

S. Mohan Rao, principal, reminded everyone of the importance of keeping high standards of sanitation and hygiene. A cleanliness drive was then launched with the cadets and staff cleaning the school area and surroundings.
