Man gets 10 years RI for rape of minor

The I Additional District and Sessions Court here has sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl. The police arrested Manjunath, a resident of Agasavalli village in Shivamogga taluk, in June 2014 for the crime.

He had abducted his victim and had taken her to a village in Erode district in Tamil Nadu and raped her multiple times. The police had booked cases under various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act against him.

The Court also fined him ₹20,000.
