The Jagannath Swamy temple geared up for Rath Yatra on Thursday in Vizianagaram

Festivities in connection with Rath Yatra are set to begin at the historic Jagannatha Swamy temple here beginning Thursday.

The yatra would begin at 10 a.m. and continue up to the Kanyaka Parameswari Temple where the processional deities would be stationed till late night, according to Jagannatha Seva Samiti member Kapuganti Prakash.

Later, they would be brought back to Tomala Mandiram to enable devotees to have darshan.

‘Maru Rath Yatra' will be celebrated on July 12. As part of the Silavirupu festival, a procession with processional deity would of Mahalakshmi be conducted on July 8 at the Santhapeta Jagannath Swamy temple.

Mr. Prakash said cultural programmes would be organised in the evenings at the mandiram from July 5 to 12.
