Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on April 5 hailed Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, as the “best person” to keep the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) together amid the current political circumstances.

Calling Ms. Kejriwal as the “messenger” of the Chief Minister, Mr. Bharadwaj said that her presence has a “positive effect” on the party cadre.

“In the current circumstances, she is the best person to keep the party together,” Mr. Bharadwaj said adding that she has an emotional connect with the party cadre.

The AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case and is currently lodged in jail.

In his absence, especially in the middle of the Lok Sabha election, Ms. Kejriwal held four digital briefings in which she released videos reading out the message from her husband. Her video messages were acclaimed on social media by people from all walks of life, Mr. Bharadwaj said.

In what is being dubbed as her political debut, Ms. Kejriwal read out the Chief Minister’s message from the stage of INDIA bloc’s mega rally held in Delhi’s Ramlila Ground on March 31. The public meeting was also attended by the wives of AAP leaders Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh.

Mr. Bhardwaj claimed that the wives of senior AAP leaders had sent out a “strong” message to the Bharatiya Janata Party that even if it will get all AAP leaders arrested, they will not surrender in front of the BJP.

When asked if Ms. Kejriwal will campaign for the AAP in the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Mr. Bhardwaj said that it will be good for the party if that happens but maintained that this will be her personal decision.
