Mumbai Police tracked down the man who made a threatening call to Ratan Tata. The caller was suffering from schizophrenia and warned Tata of 'Cyrus Mistry-like fate'.

The Mumbai Police on Saturday informed that they have successfully tracked down the man who was allegedly behind the threatening call directed at veteran industrialist and former Chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata. The police investigation revealed that the anonymous caller has schizophrenia.

According to an official from Mumbai Police, the caller asked the cops to enhance Ratan Tata’s security. Further issuing a warning the anonymous caller said that failing to do so will make Ratan Tata meet a similar fate as that of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry.

Following the call, Mumbai Police swiftly turned into action mode and assigned a special team to enhance the personal security of Ratan Tata. Meanwhile, another team was prepared to collect information about the caller.

Notably, industrialist Cyrus Mistry died in a car crash on September 4, 2022.

How Was The Caller Tracked?

The Mumbai Police tracked down the caller through technical support. With the help of a telecom service provider, the location of the caller was found to be in Karnataka. It was informed that the caller was an MBA graduate and was a resident of Pune.

As the police reached his Pune residence, they came to know that the caller had been missing for the last five days and his wife had even filed a complaint at the Bhosari police station in the city.

Following the investigation, the police learnt that the caller suffered from schizophrenia. The caller used the phone from someone else’s house without informing them.

Since the caller was found to be battling schizophrenia, the police decided against pursuing legal action against him.
