Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
The confrontation erupted in the early hours of Tuesday when security forces initiated an operation against militants based on intelligence indicating their presence in the Alshipora area of the district.
“In the ongoing search operation, two terrorists have been neutralized. Additional information will be provided shortly,” stated the Kashmir Zone Police in a post on X.
The police asserted that one of the deceased operatives from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was implicated in the earlier killing of bank guard Sanjay Sharma this year.
“Killed terrorists have been identified as Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq alias Abrar of terror outfit LeT. Terrorist Abrar was involved in the killing of Kashmiri Pandit late Sanjay Sharma,” Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said in a post on X.
