President Murmu, PM Modi Pay Tribute To Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose On Birth Anniversary

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to freedom fighter and founder of the Indian National Army Subhas Chandra Bose on his 127th birth anniversary. Bose, widely referred to as Netaji (meaning "respected leader"), was a key figure in fighting for India's independence. While paying tribute to Bose, Presdient Murmu said that Netaji's "extraordinary commitment" to India's freedom "inspired Indians to fight fearlessly against the colonial rule." 

"I pay my tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary observed as Parakram Diwas! Netaji demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the cause of India's freedom. His unparalleled courage and charisma inspired Indians to fight fearlessly against colonial rule. His powerful personality had profound impact on our freedom struggle. The nation will always remember Netaji with utmost gratitude," President Murmu posted on her official X handle.

January 23 is commemorated as 'Parakram Diwas' to honour his unwavering spirit in the quest for freedom.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose monumental contribution to our nation "continues to inspire." "Greetings to the people of India on Parakram Diwas. Netaji’s clarion call for freedom, encapsulated in the powerful words, "Give me blood and I shall give you freedom," reverberate through history as a rallying cry for liberty."

He further stated: "May this day serve as a reminder to keep Bharat first, and to work tirelessly towards a united, prosperous, and free India."

Parakram Diwas 2024

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend Parakram Diwas festivities at Red Fort to open Bharat Parv, a nine-day festival showcasing the country's rich variety and displaying many cultures. Bharat Parv will be hosted from January 23 to 31, exhibiting Republic Day tableaux created by 26 Union ministries, emphasising citizen-centric initiatives, and promoting local, diversified tourism sites, among other things.
