Petrol Prices Cross Rs 85 Mark In Delhi, Diesel Above Rs 75

Petrol, Diesel Rates Today: Petrol prices were hiked by around 25 paise to fresh new highs across the metros on Tuesday, i.e. January 19. In the national capital, the price of petrol crossed the Rs 85 mark, after being increased by 25 paise from Rs 84.95 per litre to Rs 85.20 per litre and diesel was hiked by an equal amount from Rs 75.13 per litre to Rs 75.38 per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation, the country's largest fuel retailer. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the revised petrol and diesel prices stood at Rs 91.80 per litre and Rs 82.13 per litre respectively. Oil marketing companies  - Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum align the prices of domestic fuel with global benchmarks, by taking into account changes in the foreign exchange rates. Any changes in fuel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day. The fuel prices vary from state to state in the country due to the value-added tax or VAT. 

 Brent crude futures edged up on Tuesday as optimism that government stimulus will buoy global economic growth and oil demand trumped concerns that renewed COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns globally could cool fuel consumption.

Brent crude futures for March rose 17 cents, or 0.3%, to $54.92 a barrel by 0150 GMT after slipping 35 cents in the previous session.
