Rashi, Kokilaben and Gopi Bahu are elated with the response to Rasode mein kaun tha rap
A scene from Saath Nibhaana Saathiya featuring Rucha Hasnabis, Gia Manek and Rupal Patel has become the talk of the town after music composer Yashraj Mukhate turned it into a viral rap Rasode mein kaun tha.
Viral rap Rasode mein kaun tha from Saath Nibhaana Saathiya has taken the social media by storm. The viral video, where Kokilaben (Rupal Patel) is seen asking Gopi Bahu (Gia Manek) 'Rasode mein kaun tha' (who was in the kitchen). The scene from the Star Plus show has an interesting back story. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya was based on kitchen politics of a Gujarati household.
The Star Plus show officially went off air more than two years ago but its re-runs are still popular with the viewers. A few days ago, 24-year-old Aurangabad-based music composer Yash Raj Mukhate made a rap song out of dialogue from the show, which went viral and the show has again become the talk of the town. The clip features actress Rupal Patel as Kokilaben, the strict mother-in-law and her two daughters-in-law. One is Gopi Bahu (Gia Manek) and other is Rashi (Rucha Hasabnis). The viral rap was shared by many celebs including Smriti Irani, Varun Dhawan, Rajkumar Rao and Anurag Kashyap.
Yashraj Mukhate, while experimenting with the music saw this video and turned it into a rap. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, he said, "I am not able to sleep for the past three days as I am getting so many calls over this video. It has overwhelmed me. Kokila (Rupal Patel) herself called me and congratulated me over my creation. I did not expect that the video will reach her and will be so well received ". On getting enormous response on social media he said, "Last month I had 9000 followers and was trying hard to turn it to 10,000. With my last video of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya my followers jumped to 25000. Never imagined that my followers would increased so much."
Yashraj attributes his video's success to social media. Yashraj created the video and music at his studio in Aurangabad.
Talking about the viral video, Rucha Hasnabis, who played Rashi on the show said, "We had shot this 10 years back and it's impossible to remember that. My character Rashi was very naughty but cute. She used to make the life of her sister-in-law Gopi hell and used to do all funny things . It was hilarious to see these videos resurface with a remix of rap and music that's caught everybody imagination ".
Rupal Patel who played the Kokila is also happy with the response to her dialogue and scenes. "I have seen the viral video and it makes me happy. It's a beautiful version of my popular character Kokila. Viewers are happy and cheering up for that, which makes me elated. What more does an actor want?" added Rupal Patel.
Recalling the scene, Rupal Patel shared that Rashi had put an empty cooker on the gas so that Kokila could get hurt in the accident. This was Rashi's conspiracy to harm Kokila and blame Gopi Bahu for it but Kokila investigates the matter as she didn't want Gopi to be blamed unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, Gia Manek who played Gopi Bahu on the show for almost two years could never imagine that a video from the show would go viral after ten years. "When someone sent the video to me, my reaction was 'what is this?' The made made me laugh out loud. Never realised this would go viral after so many years.
The video has become so popular that for three days, Rashi, Gopi and Kokilaben are trending on social media. The video has around 6.8 million views on Instagram and has been shared numerous times on various other social media platforms.
