Lewis Hamilton is reportedly on the verge of making a shocking move to join Ferrari from Mercedes ahead of the 2025 season.
The British media have been reporting that the seven-time World Champion has been lined up as replacement for Carlos Sainz.

This move will mark the end of an era at Mercedes, where Hamilton has been a dominant force since his arrival in 2013 from McLaren.
During his tenure with the Silver Arrows, Hamilton has amassed an impressive six world championships, contributing to his status as one of the most successful drivers in the sport's history, with a record-breaking 103 race victories and 104 pole positions to his name.
Hamilton hasn't won a race in F1 since December 2021, and had agreed to a two-year contract extension last summer along with teammate George Russell to stay with the Mercedes team until the end of the 2025 season.

This news does come as a shock to many as Hamilton's association with Mercedes was deep-rooted with both of them being involved in a lot of assignments together. After a rough couple of seasons, the British driver also believed that the car was going to challenge Red Bull in the new season.

However, it now seems like Hamilton will be winding down his F1 career alongside Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. Leclerc recently signed a new contract with Ferrari, which is expected to be a long-term deal. Hamilton's move to Ferrari will see big moves in the driver market for the 2025 season.
If the move does go through, Sainz will be left without a team and could be considered a target for many teams.
