Neeraj Chopra will be back in action in the Zurich Diamond League on August 31, looking to dominate another strong field of 10 throwers in the men's javelin event. This will be Neeraj's first Diamond League meeting as the world champion as the Olympic champion won Gold in the World Athletics Championships, scripting history for his country.

Neeraj Chopra is looking for a hat-trick of Diamond League wins this year after having finished first in Doha in May and Lausanne in June. The 25-year-old, in fact, has finished at the top step of the podium in his last 4 Diamond League meetings, which includes the Diamond League final last year where he became the first Indian to win the coveted Diamond Trophy.

Neeraj Chopra has headed to Zurich from Budapest along with India's long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, who disappointed in the World Athletics Championships.

Chopra on Sunday clinched his maiden World Championships title in Budapest with a throw of 88.17m. He had won a silver medal in the 2022 edition.

The Indian superstar also became only the third javelin thrower in history to hold both the Olympic and World Championships titles after world record holder Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic and Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway.

WHO WILL COMPETE AGAINST NEERAJ IN ZURICH?

In Zurich, where he is competing four days after being crowned world champion, Chopra will be up against familiar rivals like Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch, bronze winner in Budapest with 86.67m, Julian Weber of Germany and two-time world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada.

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who won silver in Budapest, is not part of the Zurich starting line-up.

WHERE DOES NEERAJ STAND IN DIAMOND LEAGUE STANDINGS THIS YEAR?

Neeraj is at the third spot in men's javelin Diamond League points table. He has 16 points with wins in Doha and Lausanne.

Vadlejch is at the top spot with 21 points while Germany's Julian Weber is at the 2nd spot with 19 points. The top 6 in the field events will qualify for the final at the end of the 14 series.

WHEN AND WHERE TO WATCH THE JAVELIN EVENT IN ZURICH DIAMOND LEAGUE?

The men's javelin event in the Zurich Diamond League will start from 12:12 am IST on September 1. Jio Cinema and Sports 18 will provide the live streaming and the TV coverage of the event in India.
