Noted Malayalam actor and producer Sathar breathed his last at a hospital in Aluva in Kerala on Tuesday (September 17) morning. The actor was suffering from liver-related issues for a while and was being treated for the same.

He was 67 years old. Sathar's mortal remains will be laid to rest at the Padinjare Juma Masjid in Kodungalloor this evening at 4pm.

The popular actor, who has about 144 films to his credit, made his acting debut with M Krishnan Nair's Bharyaye Avashyamundu Samarppanam in 1975. Two years later, he became a solo hero with Anavaranam, directed by A Vincent.

Sathar was known for playing hero and villain roles in Malayalam and Tamil films as well. In addition to that, he produced a few films too. Some of his noted films include God For Sale, Kaanchi, No 66 Madura Bus, 22 Female Kottayam, Roudram, Pakal, Arayannangalude Veedu, Kalapam among others.

The actor was last seen in the film Onnum Onnum Moonu, which released in 2015. It was an anthology directed by Abhilash, Bijoy Joseph and VS Sreekanth. Sathar will also be seen in Avarum Ivarum, which is yet to see the light of day.

Sathar was married to fellow actress Jayabharathi, but they parted ways. Their son, Krish J Sathar, is also an actor in Malayalam and Tamil films.
