Mass prayer for SP Balasubrahmanyam: Ilaiyaraaja, Saroja Devi and others pray for singer

On August 20, popular Kollywood personalities including Ilaiyaraaja, Saroja Devi, Sathyaraj, Mano and others took part in the mass prayer to pray for SP Balasubrahmanyam's speedy recovery. While Ilaiyaraaja prayed at his home, several other stars gathered online for a virtual prayer session, hosted by Bharathiraja. SP Balasubrahmanyam tested positive for the novel coronavirus and got admitted to a hospital on August 5.

SP Balsubrahmanyam's health condition continues to be critical, according to the hospital's latest bulletin. Celebrities and his fans were requested to play a song sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam for five minutes from 6 pm to 6.05 pm.

Ilaiyaraaja lit a lamp at his home and prayed for his best friend SP Balasubrahmanyam. A few days ago, Ilaiyaraaja shared an emotional message for his best friend SPB.

He said, "We are one big family. We need to get together to pray for one of us. Let Balu get up from the hospital, come back and sing again." Veteran actor Prabhu said that SPB is a renowned singer and good soul. Echoing Prabhu's thoughts, Parthiban stated that SPB treats everyone equally.

Sathyaraj got nostalgic and said that it was because of SPB that he successfully transitioned from being a villain to a hero.

The virtual mass prayer session saw celebrities like Saroja Devi, Sivakumar, Ameer, Sarathkumar, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Mano, KS Chithra, Kalaipuli S Thanu and KS Ravikumar among others.
