Vikrant Massey recently apologised for the old tweet he shared featuring a cartoon of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. The actor, who is currently basking in the success of his last film, ‘12th Fail’, apologised for his 2018 post and mentioned that he had no intentions to hurt the sentiments of the people or any community.

The actor was under fire recently after his tweet featuring an editorial cartoon in which Sita was shown commenting on Ram Bakhts. The actor, who received criticism for sharing the same, deleted the post and issued an apology on X. He has now deleted the post.

“In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, I’d like to say a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community. But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release (realise) the distasteful nature of it. The same could have been said without adding the cartoon which was published in a newspaper,” he wrote.

The news of the actor surfaced online after a Mumbai-based advocate Ashutosh Dubey shared a screenshot of the chat he had with Vikrant Massey ahead of the latter's apology.

‘12th Fail’ directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a biographical drama based on the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame poverty to achieve the position of an IPS officer. The movie features Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in lead roles. ‘12th Fail’ is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Meanwhile, work-wise, after the massive success of ‘12th Fail’, Vikrant Massey has been roped in for the next ‘The Sabarmati Report’. Backed by Ektaa Kapoor, the project will also feature Raashii Khanna and Riddi Dogra in key roles. The film is based on the real-life incident of 2002 -- The Sabarmati Express fire -- that wreaked havoc in Gujarat and shook the nation. It is slated to release in theatres on May 3, 2024.
