Bhumi Pednekar's Durgavati is now Durgamati, Akshay Kumar announces with new poster
Akshay Kumar took to social media today to reveal that Bhumi Pednekar's Durgavati is now Durgamati. The film is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on December 11.
Bhumi Pednekar's horror thriller, which was earlier titled as Durgavati, has been renamed as Durgamati: The Myth. Akshay Kumar, who is one of the producers of the film, today took to social media to share the news with a new poster. In the poster, Bhumi can be seen in an intense look. Durgamati, directed by G Ashok, is the remake of Telugu-Tamil film Bhaagamathie by the same director. Anushka Shetty played the lead role in the original film.

Akshay Kumar is one of the producers of Durgamati along with Vikram Malhotra, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
WHAT DID BHUMI PEDNEKAR POST?
Bhumi Pednekar also took to social media to share the news with a new poster of Durgamati. She wrote, "Aa rahi hai.. #DURGAMATI #11thDecember #DurgamatiOnPrime (sic)."
Bhumi will be seen in the role of an IAS officer in Durgamati. The film is a scary ride that tells the story of an innocent Government officer who is made the victim of a major conspiracy involving powerful forces.
WHEN IS DURGAMATI RELEASING?
The makers of Durgamati in October revealed that the film will release on Amazon Prime Video on December 11. While the makers of Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi decided to postpone its release in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Khiladi Kumar along with other producers of Durgamati concluded that the film should be released on an OTT platform.
Announcing the release date, in October, Bhumi wrote on Instagram, "What’s behind that door? You will know soon, Durgavati releasing worldwide,11th December 2020 on @primevideoin (sic)."
WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT DURGAMATI?
Starring Bhumi Pednekar, Durgamati is directed by G Ashok. Earlier, in an interview with PTI, Bhumi talked about her role in the film. "Durgavati is going to take me in horror space. It is the most challenging and special film for me as it is for the first time the responsibility will be on my shoulders. Durgavati is something I'm most pressured and excited about. Akshay sir is a genius, I respect him," she said.
The film went on floors in January this year. Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar took to social media to share the muhurat shot of the film.
Bhumi also shared a video from the sets of Durgamati in January.
Durgamati was also shot at an old fort in Madhya Pradesh.
