Those who were waiting for Akshay Kumar to announce an Independence Day release for 2020, here's a surprise. Khiladi Kumar has graciously stepped aside for Ajay Devgn. After a mega release in January with Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Ajay will return to the big screen on August 14 with Bhuj: The Pride Of India.

In the first look, Ajay Devgn is seen as an Indian Air Force officer, a first for the Shivaay actor, who has donned the Khaki in several films. The still has Ajay stare directly into the camera, with am Air Force aircraft in the background. His name tag reads, Vijay Karnik.

Sharing the first look, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "First look... #AjayDevgn in #BhujThePrideOfIndia... Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya... 14 Aug 2020 release."

On January 1, director Abhishek Dudhaiya had also shared the same image, as a new year surprise for Ajay fans. He tweeted, "It’s a privilege to present @ajaydevgn sir’s first look as Sq. Ld. Vijay Karnik from my upcoming directorial film #BhujThePrideOfIndia . #14Aug2020."

The year 2020 is already looking up for Ajay Devgn. With Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, he completes his 100th film in this industry. The film, based on the life of the Maratha warrior, Tanaji, also brings Kajol and Ajay's jodi back on screen after a decade. Saif Ali Khan will also be seen in the film as the prime antagonist.

And then, Ajay Devgn will also be hitting the bull's eye with the Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Big Bull as the producer. Incidentally, the first poster of the film was released just earlier today. Though it gave us major Wolf Of Wall Stree vibes, we're definitely excited about this one, too.

Back to Bhuj: The Pride Of India, the film is based on one of India’s most-fascinating war tales. Ajay Devgn will be essaying the role of squadron leader, Vijay Kumar Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj airport.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film is slated for an August 14, 2020 release.
