Congress reacted sharply to the news, about the alliance between SP and BSP, by stating that 'no one should underestimate Congress in Uttar Pradesh.'

Congress MP PL Punia while talking to India Today TV stated that party has never had an alliance with SP or BSP in past Lok Sabha polls.

"There is no Maan-Mutav (disagreement) between us. They are free to take decision for their party and we are free to decisions on our party's future prospects," he said.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has already dropped a hint a couple of days back that principal opposition party might be planning to go solo in UP in upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Gandhi scion has stated that no one should underestimate Congress in UP and they will surprise all when the Lok Sabha poll results will come.

Riding high on the victory in three Hindi heartland, Punia added that Congress' UP unit is already working on strengthening the party at grassroots level and that under current is in their favour.

Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi added: "The objective of all such parties coming together is clear. To defeat this autocracy. All should try synergise and come together to defeat this government."

RAHUL RAISES PITCH IN DUBAI

Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked the Modi regime by stating that there have been four and half years of "intolerance" in India. Gandhi, while speaking at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, said: "The values that bring together the people of UAE and India are humility and tolerance. Tolerance for different ideas, religions and communities. Here it is year of tolerance. I'm sad to say that back home it's four and a half years of intolerance."

Gandhi, who is on a two-day tour of UAE, while addressing Indian diaspora said: "We can never run a country like India believing that only one idea is correct and all other are wrong. Today, my beloved country is being divided for political reasons and benefits. We are here in a cricket stadium. Can a cricket team which is divided ever win a game? Can a divided nation ever win? Every single Indian, irrespective of where they live is responsible to bring India together once again. We have to say enough...."
