Rahul Gandhi will hold a rally to protest the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA), in Jaipur's Vidhyadhar Nagar on January 28.

The move is being seen as the Congress's attempt to mobilise young people against the CAA.

Besides Rahul Gandhi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, Congress state in-charge Avinash Pande and other party leaders will attend the Jaipur rally.

Gehlot said preparations for the rally had begun.

The Rajasthan government has already said it won't allow the implementation of the controversial CAA, which fast-tracks naturalisation for Pakistani, Afghan and Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from six non-Muslim minority religions who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.

The law came into effect on January 10, 2020.

Several other state governments, including those of West Bengal and Punjab, have also claimed they won't allow the implementation of the CAA.
