6 at Oppo mobile factory in Greater Noida test positive for coronavirus, 3000 staff to get tested

Six staff of the Oppo mobile factory have tested positive for coronavirus in Greater Noida. Now Oppo India has it will test over 3,000 of its staff for coronavirus infections.

Six employees at the mobile phone manufacturing unit of Oppo in Greater Noida have tested positive for coronavirus. The company that had resumed functioning on May 8 has again suspended all operations.

In a statement on Monday, Oppo India has said, “6 employees of OPPO mobile company's factory in Greater Noida have tested positive for Covid-19. All operations at the factory have been suspended. The operations there had resumed on 8th May, 2020.”

“As an organization that places the safety of all our employees and citizens at the forefront, we have suspended all operations at our manufacturing facility in Greater Noida and initiated Covid-19 testing for 3000+ employees, for which results are awaited,” said OPPO India.

Oppo India has ordered testing of all employees working at the Greater Noida unit.

Oppo India has also said, “We will only allow employees with negative test results to resume office following all safety protocols. We are undertaking stringent measures to keep the employees safe and disinfecting the premises.”

The Oppo mobile manufacturing unit is located near Delhi in the Greater Noida area. With the ongoing nationwide lockdown being relaxed, the manufacturing unit had resumed operations.

Meanwhile, Delhi has recorded 299 new coronavirus cases, crossing the 10,000-mark.

The nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 31 and the new phase comes with a set of new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In the relaxed lockdown, inter-state and intra-state movement of passenger vehicles with permission from the respective state governments. Offices and work spaces have been allowed to resume work with necessary precautions and social distancing norms.
