'Assailants won't be spared': Manohar Lal Khattar after Haryana INLD leader's murder

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday that the assailants of the state chief of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won't be spared.

Expressing grief over the murder of Haryana chief of INLD, Nafe Singh Rathee, the Chief Minister said in a post on X, "None of the culprits involved in this case will be spared. Police have been instructed to arrest the accused as soon as possible and take the strictest action."

"Shocked by the sudden demise of INLD Party Haryana state president Shri Nafe Singh Rathi ji and Shri Jaikishan. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family, we are with them in this difficult time," he said in the post.

Rathee was shot dead in Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district on Sunday. Another party worker, Jaikishan, also died in the shooting.

The shooters, who were in a car, fired multiple rounds at Rathee's car. Several security personnel also sustained critical injuries.

INLD leader Abhay Chautala had told PTI news agency that the state government failed to provide Rathee with security despite there being a threat to his life. Chautala also demanded the resignation of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Home Minister Anil Vij.
