IRCTC's Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express to be flagged off on Friday, see photos

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, the second train to be run by railway subsidiary IRCTC, will be flagged off by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani from Ahmedabad on Friday.

Country's first private train -- Tejas Express -- will start running between Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Mumbai, Maharashtra from Friday onwards (January 17).

Minister of Railways of India Piyush Goyal and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will show Tejas green flag from Ahmedabad's Kalupur Railway Station.

Special arrangements have been planned for the people who will board Tejas on Friday.

Talking about the features of Tejas that will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the train will have LCD panels (screen) for the passengers to avail entertainment on the move. The train has been installed with reclining seats.

The stewards on Tejas will be wearing, as part of the dress code, a yellow kurta and blue pants. A Kutch hat will also be part of the dress code in order to relay a a feel of Gujarat during the journey.

Both Gujarati and Marathi cuisines will be served in the train. The Gujarati and Marathi food menus are prepared by famous chefs.

The new route of the Tejas will be available to the public from January 19.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has started bookings for the new Tejas route.

The train has a total of 758 seats of which 56 seats are of the executive class and the remaining are standard A/C chairs.

The Tejas will run at a speed of 160 kmph. Tejas will also provide internet through WiFi and a free travel insurance worth Rs 25 lakh.

Each coach also has integrated braille display, digital destination boards and electronic reservation charts.

The Tejas train will leave Ahmedabad at around 6.40 pm and reach Mumbai Central at 1.10 pm. Again this train will run at 3.40 am and will reach Ahmedabad at 9.55 am.
